Classroom and Range Training Together
Maryland currently requires most new non-exempt applicants to complete at least 16 hours of firearms-safety training and a live-fire proficiency component.
Washington, DC currently requires 16 hours of firearms training plus at least two hours of range training with an MPD-certified instructor.
Virginia requires qualifying applicants to demonstrate handgun competency in person through one of several recognized methods.

Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit
Virginia uses the official term Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP).
Qualifying in-person firearms training is one recognized method of demonstrating handgun competency.

Maryland Wear & Carry Permit
Most new, non-exempt Maryland applicants currently need:
16 hours of approved training
plus
live-fire qualification.
For most civilian applicants, Maryland currently requires at least 25 rounds from no farther than 15 yards with a minimum 70% score.
Washington, DC Concealed Carry License
DC currently requires:
16 hours of firearms training
plus
at least two hours of range training.
The training includes firearm safety, marksmanship, and District and federal firearms laws, including self-defense law.
DC currently requires a 50-round qualification from no farther than 15 yards with a minimum 70% score.

Does one permit let me carry in Virginia, Maryland, and DC?
No.
Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC operate separate licensing systems.
This course coordinates the training, but you still apply for the permits or licenses you want through the appropriate government authority.
Do I have to apply for all three permits?
No.
Completing the training does not obligate you to submit every application.
Choose the permits that make sense based on where you actually live, work, and travel.
Does this replace taking separate Virginia, Maryland, and DC classes?
The purpose of the multi-state program is to coordinate overlapping training requirements into one structured program while still addressing the jurisdiction-specific requirements applicable to each credential.
You should not need to book TTP's separate initial VA, MD, and DC courses in addition to the complete multi-state program for the same training components.
Is live fire required?
Live-fire training is part of this program.
Maryland requires a live-fire proficiency component for most non-exempt new Wear & Carry applicants, and DC requires range training and qualification for applicants who are not exempt from that portion.
Is the class beginner-friendly?
Yes.
You don't need to arrive already confident or familiar with all three permit systems.
However, because the program includes live-fire qualification, students should be able to safely participate in supervised handgun training by the time they reach the range portion.
What if I only need Virginia?
Take the Virginia Concealed Carry Class rather than paying for training you don't need.

The multi-state option is best for someone who genuinely needs multiple jurisdictions.
Are veterans exempt from any of the training?
Possibly, depending on the jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
Virginia recognizes current military service or proof of honorable discharge as one method of demonstrating handgun competency.
Maryland currently exempts several groups from its firearms-safety training requirement, including active, retired, or honorably discharged members of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard.
DC may grant exemptions from some firearms-training requirements based on qualifying prior training, but MPD states that there is no exemption from the required DC firearms-law and self-defense-law training.
Applicants should rely on the appropriate government agency for an exemption determination.
